Recent coverage identifies Darrin Kitchens as Shannon’s partner. Us Weekly reported that she publicly debuted the relationship in August 2024, shortly after her separation from Efird. Entertainment coverage has described Kitchens as Efird’s cousin. A March 2026 Access Hollywood interview summary carried by Yahoo says Shannon clarified that they are not blood relatives and that the connection is through Efird’s stepfather. That family connection is attributed here to Shannon’s reported clarification, not presented as independently verified genealogy. Yahoo’s summary of the interview is the source for that account.
What happened between Lauryn Shannon and Josh Efird?
Us Weekly reported that court documents gave July 1, 2024, as the couple’s separation date. The outlet said they filed for divorce in August, describing the marriage as “irretrievably broken”; it later reported the divorce was finalized in September 2024. Those are separate milestones: reported separation, filing, and finalization.

The former spouses have four children: Ella, Bentley, Sylus, and Stella. Us Weekly reported that they agreed to joint legal and physical custody. That report does not establish the family’s complete current custody arrangements.
What has Shannon said about the relationship?
In an August 2025 Facebook caption discussed by Us Weekly, Shannon wrote: “If you would’ve told me a year ago that we’d be building a life together, we would both probably laugh it off.” The outlet also quoted her saying Kitchens had changed his perspective, habits, and lifestyle; those are Shannon’s descriptions, not independently verified claims about him.

In the April 2026 episode preview, Shannon was quoted as telling Efird, “At some point, you’re going to have to get over the fact that Darren and I are together.” The preview spells the name “Darren” in that quoted passage, while the same coverage identifies her partner elsewhere as Darrin Kitchens. Us Weekly’s preview report places the exchange in a disagreement over Efird’s comfort with Kitchens and the former spouses’ need to communicate about their children.
