Ben Foster filed for divorce from Laura Prepon in Tennessee in 2024, and later reporting said the couple settled in April 2025. The available reporting does not verify that Prepon has a $12 million net worth or that such a sum was at risk in the divorce. Figures reported from settlement documents describe gross monthly income, not net worth.

What happened in the divorce?

Foster filed for divorce in Tennessee in 2024. The Los Angeles Times reported that the filing cited irreconcilable differences and that Foster asked the court to enforce the couple’s 2018 prenuptial agreement. Those statements describe what was alleged or requested in filings, not a court finding about either person.

The filing initially listed September 9, 2023, as the separation date. Prepon’s representative described that as a typographical error and said the correct date was September 9, 2024; the Times reported that Foster’s attorney filed an amended complaint. The Los Angeles Times reported the filing and correction in November 2024.

What did reports say about the settlement?

Us Weekly reported on April 18, 2025, that the parties had reached a settlement and agreed to uphold the prenup. The outlet reported that they would retain individually held assets and their respective businesses, waive spousal support, and follow agreed child-support and parenting arrangements. These terms are attributed to Us Weekly’s reporting on documents it obtained; the full settlement agreement and Tennessee docket were not independently reviewed here. Us Weekly’s settlement report.

Do the reported income figures prove a $12 million net worth?

No. Us Weekly reported the following gross monthly income figures from settlement documents on April 18, 2025:

Person Reported gross monthly income What the figure represents
Ben Foster $70,509.92 Gross monthly income reported by Us Weekly from settlement documents—not net worth.
Laura Prepon $22,205.50 Gross monthly income reported by Us Weekly from settlement documents—not net worth.

Income is money earned over a period; net worth is the value of assets minus liabilities at a particular time. Neither figure establishes the value of a person’s assets, debts, or overall wealth. The income numbers therefore do not substantiate the $12 million figure or show that this amount was at stake. Us Weekly’s report on the income figures.

What is established—and what is not?

  • Established by public reporting: Foster filed for divorce in 2024, sought enforcement of a 2018 prenup, and the separation date was corrected from 2023 to 2024.
  • Reported about the outcome: Us Weekly said the couple settled in April 2025 and agreed to uphold the prenup, with arrangements covering assets, support, and parenting.
  • Not established by the reviewed reporting: Prepon’s net worth was $12 million, or that a $12 million fortune was in jeopardy in the case.

The New York State Unified Court System’s net-worth statement is a general court form, not evidence about either party or this Tennessee divorce. New York’s general net-worth statement form.
