The group also joked about Rod Stewart, who was scheduled to perform the following day. Police later said they would take no further action over comments made during the set, citing insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction.
What Kneecap said at Glastonbury
Kneecap took the West Holts stage at 4pm on Saturday, 28 June. The Guardian reported that the crowd joined chants of “Fuck Keir Starmer!”, “Free Palestine” and “Free Mo Chara.” At least 200 Palestinian flags were reported in the crowd, according to the Guardian’s event coverage.
The performance took place amid public pressure to remove the group from the festival lineup. Starmer had said the booking was not appropriate after Mo Chara was charged over an alleged Hezbollah flag display at a London concert. That charge was separate from the comments made at Glastonbury.
The Rod Stewart joke
During the set, Kneecap asked the crowd, “Is anyone going to see Rod Stewart tomorrow?” The Guardian reported that Stewart had been criticized ahead of his Pyramid Stage appearance after saying the public should give Nigel Farage “a chance.” Mo Chara then joked, “I mean, the man’s older than Israel.”

What happened with the police investigation?
Avon and Somerset Police said they investigated comments about a forthcoming court case made during Kneecap’s Glastonbury performance. After seeking advice from the Crown Prosecution Service, the force took no further action, saying there was insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction for any offence.
That decision concerned the Glastonbury investigation. It did not resolve or cancel the separate charge against Mo Chara relating to an alleged Hezbollah flag display at a London concert.
