Kantara: Chapter 1 was reported to have grossed Rs 335 crore worldwide in its first four days in cinemas. The October 2–5, 2025 run was an extended opening weekend—not a three-day weekend—and the figure is a reported gross, not an audited total.
How much did Kantara: Chapter 1 earn in its opening weekend?
Contemporaneous reports published on October 6, 2025 put Kantara: Chapter 1’s worldwide collection at Rs 335 crore over four days, from its October 2 theatrical opening through October 5. Moneycontrol, Cinema Express and The Indian Express all reported that figure. Moneycontrol, Cinema Express and The Indian Express describe it as a four-day or extended opening weekend.
The reports establish a contemporaneous reported figure, not an independently audited box-office statement. Accordingly, Rs 335 crore is best described as the reported worldwide gross for the four-day period.
Why the domestic totals differ
Worldwide gross, domestic collection and India nett are different accounting labels; they should not be treated as interchangeable. The reports give different domestic figures for the same four-day period:

| Measure | Reported figure | Attribution |
|---|---|---|
| Worldwide gross | Rs 335 crore | Reported by Moneycontrol, Cinema Express and The Indian Express |
| India nett | Rs 232.75 crore | Moneycontrol |
| Domestic collection | Rs 223.75 crore | Sacnilk, as cited by The Indian Express |
India nett is not the same measure as worldwide gross, and the domestic collection figure cited by The Indian Express does not match Moneycontrol’s India nett figure. The reports do not provide a common accounting basis that would allow those two domestic totals to be reconciled, so each should remain attached to its source and label.

How to read the opening-weekend figure
- Keep the time window clear: the Rs 335 crore claim covers October 2–5, four days, rather than a conventional three-day weekend.
- Keep the accounting basis clear: worldwide gross, domestic collection and India nett answer different questions.
- Keep comparisons like-for-like: compare four-day worldwide gross with another four-day worldwide gross, or domestic nett with domestic nett. A four-day opening gross cannot establish a ranking against another film’s lifetime domestic total.
