No: the widely repeated $98 million figure was not reported as a divorce payout to Kaley Cuoco. It appears to be an Australian-dollar conversion of a reported US$72 million in The Big Bang Theory earnings that a 2016 article said were protected by Cuoco’s prenuptial agreement with Ryan Sweeting. The divorce coverage described separate payments to Sweeting, not a $98 million award to Cuoco.
Where the $98 million figure came from
In May 2016, International Business Times Australia reported that Cuoco had earned US$72 million from The Big Bang Theory, attributing that estimate to TMZ. The Australian article rendered the amount as AU$98 million. It characterized the earnings as protected under Cuoco’s prenup with Sweeting; it did not say she received AU$98 million—or US$98 million—in the divorce. International Business Times Australia’s 2016 account is secondary reporting, not an independently verified accounting or a court finding.
What was reported about the Sweeting divorce
Cuoco filed for divorce from tennis player Ryan Sweeting in 2015. E! reported that her petition disclosed a prenup signed on November 20, 2013, while noting that the agreement’s terms had not been released. E!’s September 2015 report therefore establishes the agreement’s disclosure, not the specific protections later described in news accounts.
When the divorce was reported finalized in 2016, International Business Times Australia summarized terms it attributed to court documents obtained by People. It reported that Sweeting was to receive US$165,000 in two installments, up to US$55,000 toward attorney fees, US$9,387 for outstanding legal-service charges related to the prenup, and US$195,000 for personal trainers. These are figures reported by that outlet; the underlying judgment and prenup are not the source of this article’s claims.

A later legal commentary summarized the judgment as leaving Cuoco with the Tarzana and Santa Barbara homes and her other listed assets, while Sweeting waived spousal support and received the reported payments. That commentary is secondary as well, rather than the court judgment itself. The Hollywood Reporter’s legal commentary provides that summary.

The Cook divorce is a separate case, not another account of the Sweeting settlement. ET reported the couple’s separation in September 2021 and later reported the divorce finalized in June 2022. The separation announcement said their paths had gone in different directions, but made no claim about money. ET’s separation report and ET’s report on the finalization cover that later relationship.

What can—and cannot—be concluded
