Spoiler warning: This ranking covers the anime’s Fearsome Womb, Kyoto Goodwill Event, Hidden Inventory/Premature Death, and Shibuya Incident arcs, as well as Jujutsu Kaisen 0. It includes major plot turns through Gojo’s sealing in Shibuya, but not later manga-only events. The order is an editorial judgment, not an official or fan-vote ranking: it weighs character development, emotional impact, spectacle, and consequences for the wider story.
Gojo’s best moments are not only demonstrations of power. The most revealing scenes show how he becomes “the strongest,” what that status costs, and how his bond with Geto shapes the story around him.

1. Gojo tells Yuji he is the strongest
When Yuji first encounters the danger of Sukuna’s awakening, Gojo’s confidence is almost disarming. His assurance to Yuji that he is the strongest establishes the enormous gap between his abilities and those of other sorcerers, while also defining his relaxed, cocky way of carrying that power.
The line matters because it is more than bravado: the story soon gives the audience reasons to believe him. Japan Anime News, powered by ORICON NEWS, identifies this exchange as part of Gojo’s early encounter with Sukuna. ORICON’s character guide provides the scene context; exact dialogue wording can vary by licensed subtitle or translation edition.

2. Gojo unveils Hollow Purple against Hanami
During the Kyoto Goodwill Event, Gojo’s Hollow Purple attack on Hanami is a clean, memorable escalation. The scene makes an unfamiliar technique legible through its impact, and it gives the audience a vivid sense of what Gojo can do when he stops treating a confrontation casually.
It earns a place near the top because it is both spectacle and characterization: Gojo’s relaxed confidence has a very different force when backed by an attack of this scale. ORICON’s guide also highlights this reveal as a defining Gojo moment.
3. Toji defeats Gojo on the Star Plasma Vessel mission
Gojo’s defeat by Toji is one of the story’s most important reversals. Before this point, his immense ability can make him seem untouchable; Toji’s victory exposes that even Gojo can be outmaneuvered and brought down.
The loss is essential to the arc rather than a detour from Gojo’s legend. It creates the conditions for his transformation and makes his return feel earned instead of inevitable.

4. Gojo awakens and returns to face Toji
After recovering through Reverse Cursed Technique, Gojo returns with a changed command of his abilities. His rematch with Toji marks the shift from gifted prodigy to the figure who can credibly claim the title of strongest.
This moment ranks separately from the defeat because the contrast is the point: Gojo’s new confidence follows a brush with death and a breakthrough, not an uninterrupted record of victory. ORICON’s guide describes the defeat, recovery, and confrontation as key events in his development.
5. Gojo defeats Toji with Hollow Purple
The Hollow Purple attack that finishes Gojo’s rematch with Toji is the payoff to his awakening. It combines a major combat reveal with the emotional force of a fight that has already changed Gojo’s understanding of his own limits.
Its place below the awakening itself reflects what makes the sequence memorable: the decisive attack lands because the story has shown the defeat and recovery that came before it.
Rank #3
6. Gojo and Geto’s friendship before their separation
In Hidden Inventory/Premature Death, Gojo and Geto are shown as close partners whose differences have not yet become a rupture. Their easy familiarity gives their later divergence emotional weight: the story is not simply describing two powerful sorcerers taking different paths, but friends losing the future they once shared.
This quieter relationship beat belongs among Gojo’s best moments because it changes how his later scenes read. His strength is public; his connection to Geto is personal, and that bond gives the larger conflict its ache.
7. Riko Amanai’s death and the aftermath
Riko Amanai’s death is a shared loss and a turning point for both Gojo and Geto. Its aftermath helps explain the pressure surrounding them and the change in Geto’s outlook, but it should not be reduced to a single cause or treated as something Gojo alone is responsible for.
The scene matters because it makes the cost of the Star Plasma Vessel mission painfully concrete. The arc’s emotional pivot is not only what happens to Gojo’s power; it is what the loss does to the people who survive it.
Rank #4
8. Gojo confronts Geto in Jujutsu Kaisen 0
Gojo’s encounter with Geto in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 brings the friendship’s history into the present. Their confrontation connects Gojo’s extraordinary strength to something it cannot solve: loyalty, grief, and the distance between two people who once stood together.
ORICON’s guide covers Gojo’s role in the Night Parade and his encounter with Geto. For viewers following the anime, the film offers a different expression of the bond first developed in the past arc.

In Shibuya, Gojo faces Jogo, Hanami, and Choso, then uses Unlimited Void against mutated humans. The battle is a showcase of his power under extreme pressure, but its setting makes the spectacle morally complicated: the threat around him constrains what he can do and raises the stakes for everyone nearby.
The official anime site’s Season 2 episode index places Hidden Inventory/Premature Death in episodes 25–29 and lists the continuing Shibuya sequence. Prime Video’s Season 2 listing also describes the plan to seal Gojo; streaming catalog access may vary by territory.

10. Gojo is sealed in Shibuya
Gojo’s sealing is the most consequential moment on this list. The story’s crisis changes shape when its strongest sorcerer is removed from the board: the event is not just a setback for one character, but a structural turning point for the jujutsu world and the people left to respond.
The official episode index identifies episode 33 as “渋谷事変 開門” (“Shibuya Incident: Gate, Open”). The sealing’s larger consequences are part of the story’s dramatic framing, not a measured claim about the fictional world.
Where to find these moments in the anime
The official Season 2 index is the most useful episode locator for the two arcs that contain Gojo’s central transformation and Shibuya’s crisis:
- Hidden Inventory/Premature Death: Season 2 episodes 25–29.
- Shibuya Incident: the later Season 2 episode sequence, including episode 33, “渋谷事変 開門” (“Shibuya Incident: Gate, Open”).
Episode numbering here follows the official anime index. This ranking also includes scenes from the earlier Fearsome Womb and Kyoto Goodwill Event arcs and from Jujutsu Kaisen 0.
