Jonnie Irwin, the presenter of Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun and the BBC’s Escape to the Country, died aged 50 on 2 February 2024 after living with lung cancer for more than three years. He was diagnosed in 2020 and revealed in November 2022 that the cancer had spread to his brain.
