He won WWE’s 16-Superstar “The Last Time is Now” tournament, then defeated Cena by submission in their December 13, 2025, match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. The Boston and New York dates announced earlier were Cena’s last appearances in those cities—not his final match.
When and where was Cena’s final match?
WWE announced on September 30, 2025, that Cena’s final match would headline Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The announcement did not name his opponent; WWE later used a tournament to determine who would face him. WWE’s event announcement
That match was distinct from Cena’s final Raw appearances in Boston and New York City. WWE had announced Raw dates at TD Garden on November 10 and Madison Square Garden on November 17 as his last appearances in those cities. WWE’s announcement of the Boston and New York dates
How did WWE choose the last opponent?
WWE set up a 16-Superstar bracket called “The Last Time is Now.” The winner earned the match against Cena. Its first-round field was Jey Uso, The Miz, Rusev, Damian Priest, Sheamus, Shinsuke Nakamura, LA Knight, Zack Ryder, Penta, Finn Bálor, Solo Sikoa, Dolph Ziggler, Gunther, Je’Von Evans, Carmelo Hayes, and Bronson Reed. WWE noted that Ryder and Ziggler were not signed with the company at the time; Sheamus was ruled out after an injury. WWE’s tournament bracket and updates
