Jimmy Barnes’ For The Working Class Man anniversary tour is over: the Australian dates ran from November 2025 through April 2026, followed by two New Zealand shows that month. Barnes advertised a set performing the 1985 album from start to finish, with additional catalogue favourites. ICEHOUSE, Ian Moss and Kate Ceberano were named as Australian special guests; John Rooney later joined most dates as an opening guest.
What the Working Class Man anniversary tour celebrated
Barnes announced the tour to mark 40 years since For The Working Class Man, released in December 1985. His official announcement says the album spent seven weeks at number one on the Australian chart and sold more than 500,000 copies in Australia; those figures are reported by Barnes’s announcement, which does not name a separate chart or sales certifier. The official tour announcement described the album as a pivotal release in his solo career.
Barnes said the record was significant in his life and helped establish the rest of his solo career. He also described the New Zealand dates as a chance to celebrate it with fans there. The book The 100 Best Australian Albums is quoted in the official announcement describing the album this way: “It defined both him and much of Australia.”
Who joined Jimmy Barnes on the Australian tour?
The original Australian announcement named ICEHOUSE, Ian Moss and Kate Ceberano as special guests. A later update added John Rooney as a very special guest opening most shows. Rooney was not listed for the Sydney Opera House or Rod Laver Arena dates. Barnes’s official tour updates provide the announced lineup and schedule.
