She spoke about their connection and support, but did not announce an engagement or wedding plans. “Wonderful,” used in some headline wording, is not the adjective in the quoted remark reproduced by the available coverage.
Hudson called the relationship “divine”
In its account of the October 6, 2026 interview, TheGrio quoted Hudson saying, “It’s been divine, every bit of that.” ComingSoon also reported the remark. The full TODAY transcript or primary video was not available in the retrieved coverage, so these short quotations should be understood as reported wording.
Hudson also described the value of being with someone she could relate to on many levels and receive support from. TheGrio’s account gave two examples: Common performed “Glory” with her at Madison Square Garden, and Hudson joked that she could ask him to host her daytime show because he knows how to talk.
She has not said marriage is a requirement
Hudson addressed marriage expectations by saying she has never felt she had to get married. ComingSoon reproduced her remark as: “I’ve never been that girl that feels like, ‘Okay, I’ve gotta get married.’” The point, as reported, was that marriage should not be treated as an automatic goal for women.

That is not an announcement that Hudson has ruled out marriage, nor does the coverage report a specific decision or wedding plans for the couple. It describes her view of pressure and expectations, not a forecast of what she and Common will do.
What has been reported about their relationship timeline
ComingSoon reports that Hudson and Common met while playing a married couple in the film Breathe and were romantically linked beginning in 2022. They publicly confirmed their relationship during Common’s January 2024 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. TheGrio described them in its October 2026 story as being together for four years. These dates are media-reported timeline details, rather than a start date independently established by a primary statement in the coverage available here.
