The answer depends on which part of Today you mean. Craig Melvin took Hoda Kotb’s place alongside Savannah Guthrie in the show’s first two hours. For the fourth hour, Jenna Bush Hager welcomed rotating celebrity guest co-hosts—including Scarlett Johansson—before NBC named Sheinelle Jones her permanent partner in December 2025, with the pairing scheduled to begin in January 2026.
Why there were two different Hoda Kotb replacements
Kotb announced on September 26, 2024, that she would leave Today in early 2025. She had two distinct roles: co-anchor of the first two hours with Savannah Guthrie, a partnership that began in 2018, and co-host of the fourth hour with Jenna Bush Hager. Those jobs were filled through separate decisions.
That distinction matters when reading headlines about who would replace Kotb. Craig Melvin was selected for the main show beside Guthrie; Bush Hager’s fourth-hour partnership was handled separately, initially with a rotating guest-host format.
Who replaced Kotb on the first two hours of Today?
On November 14, 2024, the Associated Press reported that Craig Melvin would replace Kotb as Guthrie’s co-anchor for the first two hours. At that point, the fourth-hour appointment had not been disclosed. The AP report quoted Today senior vice president Libby Leist describing Melvin as “an integral and beloved part of our family.”

Who co-hosted Jenna Bush Hager’s fourth hour?
After Kotb’s departure, the fourth hour used rotating guest co-hosts under the Today With Jenna & Friends framing while NBC considered a permanent partner for Bush Hager. Scarlett Johansson was among the celebrity guests highlighted in coverage. She was a guest host, not the eventual permanent replacement.
The guest rotation and the permanent appointment are different things: a celebrity’s appearance in the hour did not mean NBC had selected that person to co-host it on an ongoing basis.
