By October 14, 2025, a retrospective reported that Jeff and Matt Hardy held four tag-team titles across WWE NXT, TNA, House of Glory and 4th Rope. Jeff also said he had not expected to be alive in 2025—a sobering perspective on a year that brought renewed purpose in the ring.
Why Jeff Hardy said the TNA title meant so much
In January 2025, Jeff Hardy told the San Antonio Express-News that the TNA tag-team title carried unusual personal meaning. He connected that feeling to a crisis in 2022, when grief and drinking had brought him close to ending his life. “This is probably the most important title I’ve ever had because I came so close to ending it all in 2022 when my drinking got way out of control,” he said. Those are Jeff’s words about his experience, not a clinical assessment.
In the same interview, he said he felt good nearly three years later and credited ice baths with spiritual, mental and physical benefits. That is his personal account, not evidence that ice baths treat addiction, grief or other health conditions. Read the Express-News interview.
How the Hardy Boyz built their 2025 title run
The brothers’ championship year unfolded across several promotions. The dates and title count below reflect the October 14, 2025 retrospective’s account, rather than a present-day standings update.

On October 14, the retrospective described Jeff and Matt as holding four tag-team championships: TNA, NXT, House of Glory and 4th Rope. That is a dated snapshot, not a claim about their titles today. The account was published by The Sportster and syndicated by Yardbarker; read the October retrospective.
Why Jeff returned to TNA
Jeff described his return to TNA as a decision shaped by his brother’s move and their shared history. In January, he said he had not known Matt was going back: “I had no idea Matt was going back. It was like a secret.” Jeff had briefly considered staying with AEW, but ultimately called Matt and agreed to appear in TNA. ProWrestling.net reported Jeff’s account of the decision.

The January interviews make clear that the TNA run was more than a change of workplace for Jeff: he described the title as bound up with his recovery and his continuing career alongside Matt. His comments are personal testimony, not an objective measure of performance or wellbeing.
What Jeff said about making it to 2025
An October 2025 quote carried by the retrospective put the year’s successes in a stark light: “Tell you the truth, I didn’t think I’d be alive in 2025.” The same account quoted him reflecting on the earlier era: “It was madness back in the early 2000s.” The retrospective placed the remarks in the context of an interview and social-media material; its original linked interview could not be independently confirmed here, so the quotes are attributed to that report.

His words offer a personal frame for the title run: achievement and survival sit side by side in the story he told about 2025. They should not be mistaken for a claim that championships alone establish recovery, or that he was speaking on behalf of anyone else.

The October retrospective also said the Hardys faced Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley at Bound For Glory on October 12, 2025. It described the Dudleys handing over their boots after the match as a retirement signal. That characterization belongs to the report; it does not independently establish the Dudleys’ current status.
