It looked like a Starbucks cup, but HBO described it as a craft-services coffee cup and never confirmed the brand. The cup appeared during the Winterfell feast in Game of Thrones season 8, episode 4, and was later digitally removed from the episode.
Where the cup appeared
The cup is visible in the original version of “The Last of the Starks,” the fourth episode of season 8. It sits on a table in front of Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) during the Winterfell feast, which follows the Battle of Winterfell. Contemporary coverage placed the brief shot at about 17:40 into the episode. CBS News reported the scene and its approximate position.
Was it really a Starbucks cup?
That has not been established. The cup resembled a modern takeaway coffee cup, prompting viewers to call it a Starbucks cup, but HBO described it as a “craft services coffee cup” and did not identify a retailer or confirm a Starbucks logo. ABC News (Australia) reported HBO’s explanation and the distinction.
HBO’s representative also joked: “The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.” That line acknowledged the production error; it does not prove the cup was branded or that it contained a latte. TheWrap reported the statement and HBO’s craft-services description.

Was the cup removed?
Yes. HBO digitally removed it after it was noticed in the original episode. The removal means viewers may see a different version from the one in which the cup first appeared. CBS News reported the digital edit.
Who left it on the table?
Emilia Clarke later said that Conleth Hill told her the cup was his. That is a reported anecdote, not a verified identification: the Guardian’s account noted there was no proof establishing Hill as the person who left it. The Guardian reported Clarke’s account and its evidentiary limit.
