One Battle After Another, Paul Thomas Anderson’s film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, was a holiday-season awards pick—not a proven streaming-viewership champion. It won Best Picture at the 2026 Academy Awards, but DiCaprio did not win Best Actor. The latest dated chart evidence cited here placed the film at No. 4 on Prime Video’s U.S. Top 10 on May 26, 2026; that snapshot does not establish where it streams today.
Why the film was a holiday-season pick
The holiday connection comes from recommendations, not a verified contest measuring total viewers. TheWrap included One Battle After Another in a December 21, 2025 guide to 26 awards contenders to watch from home (TheWrap). JustWatch also recommended it for after-Christmas viewing in a guide published January 4, 2026, describing it as a fresh, funny, action-packed awards-season option (JustWatch UK).

The film follows DiCaprio as a washed-up revolutionary whose daughter is kidnapped by an old rival, according to JustWatch’s guide. Those seasonal recommendations explain the “holiday favorite” framing; they do not show that it beat every other title on streaming.
What its Oscar record actually was
One Battle After Another won Best Picture at the 2026 Academy Awards, according to JustWatch’s 2026 winners guide. The same guide names Michael B. Jordan for Sinners as Best Actor and lists DiCaprio among the runners-up (JustWatch 2026 Oscars winners guide). So the film was an Oscar winner, while calling DiCaprio an “Oscar favorite” refers to awards-season attention—not an acting win.

What the streaming charts show—and what they do not
ComingSoon reported, citing FlixPatrol, that One Battle After Another ranked No. 4 on Prime Video’s overall U.S. Top 10 chart on May 26, 2026, after climbing three places in one day (ComingSoon). That is a dated, third-party chart position for one platform and country. It is not a viewer count, an audited measure of audience size, or evidence of the film’s current ranking.
A tertiary overview also describes the film as HBO Max’s most-streamed film during its first four days after its December 2025 debut (overview). Because the cited account does not establish an underlying primary chart record or methodology, treat it as a reported chart claim, not a verified audience total.
The sources cited here do not establish an independently audited figure for how many people watched the film over the holidays. A recommendation, a platform chart position and a streaming audience total are different kinds of evidence; none should be substituted for another.
Rank #2
- From Warner Bros. Pictures comes “One Battle After Another,” written, directed and produced by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Academy Award and BAFTA winners Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro, and Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor and Chase Infiniti.
Where to watch or buy it
Availability changes by country and over time. The May 2026 U.S. Prime Video ranking does not prove that the film is currently included with Prime. JustWatch’s UK listing displayed streaming, bundle, digital purchase and Blu-ray options, but that UK snapshot does not establish what is available in other regions or which offers remain live (JustWatch UK listing).

- Blu-ray: A Blu-ray option appeared in JustWatch’s UK listing; confirm the edition and stock with a retailer before ordering.
Before subscribing, renting, buying or ordering a disc, verify the live listing for your location. The evidence supports a holiday recommendation and dated chart attention—not a claim that the film currently dominates streaming everywhere.
