DTF St. Louis is a seven-episode HBO limited series starring Jason Bateman, David Harbour and Linda Cardellini. It premiered in the U.S. on March 1, 2026, and a production-company article reported that it topped HBO Max after its third episode—but that claim is a dated report, not a confirmed current ranking.
What is DTF St. Louis about?
HBO describes the series as “a limited series about a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise that leads to one of them ending up dead.” That premise puts a death at the center of a story about adult relationships; “crime comedy” is a concise genre description, not wording used in the official logline.

Did DTF St. Louis become HBO Max’s most-watched show?
A March 18, 2026 article from Escape Artists, a production company associated with the series, said DTF St. Louis became HBO Max’s most-watched show, ahead of The Pitt, after episode three was released on March 15. Escape Artists attributed that chart claim to Screen Rant. The available report does not provide chart methodology or say how long the series held the position, so it should be understood as a reported, dated lead—not an independently verified or current ranking. Escape Artists’ March 18 report is the source for the claim.
How many people watched the premiere?
TheWrap reported that DTF St. Louis drew 2.5 million U.S. viewers across the first three days after its March 1 premiere, citing Nielsen and Warner Bros. Discovery live-plus-three-day figures. It also reported that viewing had grown to 3.5 times the premiere-night audience. These are audience measurements, not an HBO Max chart position; the two claims describe different things. TheWrap’s report provides the figures and attribution.
