Fonda’s tribute recalled both Sutherland’s talent and the experiences they shared. The FTA Show and their anti-war activism
Fonda’s mention of the FTA Show places their shared memories in the context of anti-war activism. The tour opposed the Vietnam War and performed for U.S. service members. Fonda’s tribute gives the audience total as 60,000 active-duty soldiers, sailors and marines, and names Hawaii, Okinawa, the Philippines and Japan as stops. That number is her recollection in the 2024 tribute; the cited accounts do not independently verify it.
