Jana Duggar said she enrolled in nursing school in 2023, before reconnecting with Stephen Wissmann and marrying him in August 2024. That is what she reported in an interview published August 16, 2024; it does not confirm whether she is still studying or has since completed a program.
When did Jana Duggar enroll in nursing school?
In an August 16, 2024, interview with PEOPLE, Jana said she had enrolled the previous year—meaning 2023. The interview did not name the school, the program or credential she was pursuing, or an expected graduation date. AOL’s republication of the PEOPLE interview reports the enrollment but offers no later update on her studies.
Why did she pursue nursing?
Jana described nursing as an interest she decided to pursue while considering what her life might look like if marriage did not happen soon. She said, “That’s been another interest of mine. And I was like, ‘You know what? Maybe this is more of the calling that I would be doing, and let me just pour myself into something,’ ”
How did nursing school relate to her relationship with Stephen Wissmann?
Jana said she and Wissmann reconnected during her second semester of nursing school. The interview says their families already knew one another and that the pair had dated briefly a few years earlier before reconnecting. It does not suggest that nursing school caused their reunion; it places the events in the same period of her life.

When did Jana and Stephen Wissmann marry?
The couple married on August 15, 2024, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. PEOPLE described the ceremony as classic and elegant and reported that the newlyweds planned to move to Nebraska.
Is Jana Duggar still studying to be a nurse?
The interview establishes that she had enrolled in 2023 and was in her second semester when she reconnected with Wissmann. It does not establish whether she continued her studies after the August 2024 interview, completed a credential, or left the program. There is no basis in that report for describing her as a currently enrolled nursing student or as a nurse.
