Gundam Factory Yokohama closed on March 31, 2024, ending the attraction built around a life-sized moving Gundam. The robot was not simply discarded: Bandai Namco later said materials from the Yokohama figure were reused in a different, stationary statue for Expo 2025 in Osaka. That display also ended, on October 13, 2025.
What happened to the Yokohama Gundam?
Gundam Factory Yokohama ran from December 19, 2020, through March 31, 2024, according to the Gundam Official event page. The site records 1,782,248 participants over the attraction’s run; that is a total participant count, not an annual figure or a count of unique individuals.
The Yokohama installation was a moving, life-sized Gundam presented as part of the attraction. The closure ended that public experience at its Yokohama site.
Was the statue dismantled or moved?
Bandai Namco says materials from the Yokohama moving Gundam were reused in a new statue for Expo 2025 in Osaka. The successor was designated RX-78F00/E Gundam. It was not the same moving installation transferred intact: Bandai Namco explicitly stated, “The ‘life-sized GUNDAM statue’ to be set at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan will not be a moving GUNDAM.”

The Expo statue stood as part of the GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION. Its exhibition period was April 13 through October 13, 2025, so it is also a past display, not a current attraction. Bandai Namco gave its overall height as 16.72 meters to the fingertip, its head height as 12.31 meters, and its total weight as 49.1 tonnes.

Bandai Namco’s official Expo project page describes the reused materials and the successor statue. The available account establishes reuse, but does not detail each dismantling, storage, or transport step.

How Yokohama marked the closure
The goodbye was marked locally as well as at the attraction. In an announcement dated February 16, 2024, the Yokohama Official Visitors Guide described flags, displays, and other activities connected with the March 31 closure.
Is there a model kit of the successor statue?
Yes. Bandai Hobby’s catalog lists the EXPO2025 ENTRY GRADE 1/144 RX-78F00/E Gundam kit, released April 11, 2025. It represents the Expo successor statue’s form; it is not a model of the Yokohama installation in its moving configuration. The catalog entry does not establish current stock or availability.

The attraction’s place in Gundam’s larger story
The Yokohama installation was one part of a wider franchise and model-kit business, not a proxy for it. Bandai Namco Holdings reported ¥145.7 billion in Gundam series groupwide net sales for FY2024.3 and said product and service sales increased significantly, centered on Gundam model kits. Those are corporate sales figures, not revenue attributable to Gundam Factory Yokohama.
