In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, Episode 4, “Perfect Preparation,” Maki Zenin’s attack on her clan has drawn comparisons to the Bride’s fight against the Crazy 88 in Kill Bill: Volume 1. The parallel is clearest in the group-combat staging and a shift from color to black and white. It is a reported visual echo, not a confirmed statement of the anime’s creators’ intent.

The fight follows the death of Maki’s sister, Mai. That loss is part of the scene’s dramatic force: the violence is bound up with grief, anger, and family conflict, rather than presented simply as a showcase of combat. SuperHeroHype describes Maki fighting members of the Hei and Kukuru groups and notes that her mother delivers the final blow to Naoya. SuperHeroHype’s coverage
Why viewers compare it to Kill Bill
The comparison is to the Bride’s battle against the Crazy 88 in Kill Bill: Volume 1. SuperHeroHype points to the sequence’s group fight and its color giving way to black and white as the action continues. It also connects the fight’s presentation to Maki’s grief and anger after Mai’s death. Those are elements of a visual and thematic comparison, not evidence of a shot-for-shot recreation.

- A female assassin attacked on her wedding day and left for dead by her group leader/ex-lover, Bill, wakes up four years later from a coma and seeks revenge against him and his team of murderous assassins.
ORICON’s Japan Anime News report says viewers compared the episode—Episode 4 of the season and Episode 51 overall—to Kill Bill and to Musou-style action games. Its surfaced headline phrases include “It’s like Kill Bill” and “She’s wiping out enemies like a Musou game”; these are presented as fan-reaction language, not quotes from named individuals. Is the Kill Bill reference confirmed?
The available coverage supports saying that the fight evokes Kill Bill or that viewers and commentators have read it as an homage. It does not establish that the anime’s director, MAPPA staff, Gege Akutami, or another production representative confirmed a direct reference. The most accurate framing is therefore a reported resemblance, not a proven account of creative intent.
Rank #2
- After crossing two names off her kill list, The Bride returns with a plan of revenge targeting Budd (Michael Madsen) and Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah), the only survivors of the team of thugs who betrayed her four years ago. Everything leads to her ultimate confrontation with Bill (David Carradine), The Bride's former mentor and the one who ordered her assassination!
That distinction does not make the comparison meaningless. The group-versus-one staging and stark visual shift invite the association, while the scene’s context gives it a different emotional weight: Maki’s assault grows out of violence within her family and the aftermath of Mai’s death.

Calling the sequence “like Kill Bill” identifies a recognizable cinematic parallel, but it is not a complete explanation of the scene. Maki is returning to the Zen’in estate amid a personal and family reckoning, and the fight is tied to her changed capabilities. The reference works best as a way to describe the scene’s visual treatment and group-combat setup, not as a substitute for its character context.
Rank #3
- Quentin Tarantino's KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR unites Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 into a single, unrated epic—complete with a new anime sequence.
The cited coverage does not establish detailed changes between the anime and manga, so the comparison should not be used to claim that the adaptation added or copied particular shots. Nor does it prove that every resemblance was intentional.
