No—Supernatural Season 16 has not been confirmed. The CW described Season 15 as the series’ final season, and former showrunner Andrew Dabb said there was no Season 16 plan when the original run ended. In August 2026, Misha Collins said a reboot or movie had been discussed as an idea, but he did not announce a project in development.
Is Supernatural Season 16 confirmed?
No cited announcement confirms a sixteenth season, production start, release date, platform, or returning cast. The available statements distinguish between the possibility of revisiting the franchise and a season that has actually been commissioned.

The CW’s press biography describes the series as having completed its fifteenth and final season. Andrew Dabb, who ran the show for Seasons 12–15, told TV Insider on July 14, 2025: “Season 16, in terms of a plan, no, long story short, and I say that only because Jared and Jensen had kind of made it very well known that 15 was the last, we planned for that.”
What did Misha Collins say about a return?
In an August 12, 2026 interview with ComicBook.com, Collins, who played Castiel, said he did not think the stars had discussed Season 16 among themselves. He added: “But I don’t think we’ve ever talked about a season 16 amongst ourselves. But the idea of some sort of a reboot or some sort of a movie or something like that has percolated, for sure.”

That is evidence of an idea being discussed and of Collins’s interest in returning to the world—not evidence that a reboot, movie, or new season has been approved. No project details or commitment were announced in those comments.
Is there a story or format planned?
Dabb has described a possible way a future story could begin, but characterized it as a setup rather than a developed plan; he said he did not know where the story would go. He also floated a six-episode streamer version as a hypothetical, then said he did not think the market supported it at the time, citing streamer cutbacks and limited buyer interest in genre procedurals. That was his assessment in a July 2025 interview, not an official decision by a platform.

A cast member’s willingness to return, a hypothetical plot opening, or fan speculation does not establish that a series is happening. Confirmation would require an official announcement from the network, studio, or production, with concrete information such as the project format, development or production status, or release plans. None of those details is established by the statements above.
