Ken Pomeroy’s Cruel Joke is a 12-track contemporary folk album released May 16, 2025. Its connection to the television series Reservation Dogs is through songs featured in the show: “Cicadas,” and, according to the Vancouver Folk Music Festival’s artist biography, “Pareidolia.” The available sources establish song placements, not that the full album was made for or used as the series soundtrack.
How Cruel Joke connects to Reservation Dogs
Rounder Records identifies Pomeroy’s “Cicadas” as a song featured in Hulu’s Reservation Dogs. Duke Arts also notes the “Cicadas” placement, while the Vancouver Folk Music Festival biography names both “Cicadas” and “Pareidolia.” These accounts support describing the songs as featured in the series; they do not establish that every track on Cruel Joke appeared in it or that the album as a whole is the show’s soundtrack.

Rounder Records’ album feature also quotes Pomeroy on songwriting: “I feel like once I get it out into a song, I don’t have to worry about it anymore. If it’s a traumatic thing that happened, I kind of act as if it’s gone.”

The official album listing shows a Standard CD, Switchgrass Green LP, digital album, and limited vinyl variants. At the time the listing was reviewed, Oil Spill and Chore Coat Blue vinyl variants were marked sold out; stock and edition availability can change.
