The same report described a separate dispute over a home owned by her sister Kyle Richards. Neither report was a statement from Kim or a medical record, and the events should not be treated as proof of a diagnosis or the reason for the hold.
What TMZ reported about the September 2024 hotel incident
In a report published September 27, 2024, TMZ said unnamed law-enforcement sources told the outlet that Kim was at a Los Angeles-area Hilton in early September. According to those sources, arriving officers found her incoherent; she refused a request to leave, was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold, and was taken by ambulance. TMZ reported that Kyle was present. The account is attributed to unnamed sources, not to a named officer, clinician, or medical record. TMZ’s September 27 report said it had contacted Kim and Kyle but had not received a response by publication.
The headline characterization of a relapse comes from that reporting. Kim did not confirm a relapse in the reviewed coverage, and the reported hold alone does not establish a particular mental-health condition or explain why officers took that action.
The separate dispute at Kyle’s home
TMZ’s September report also described a different late-month call at a home Kyle owned in the Los Angeles area. Its law-enforcement sources said Kim had moved out and later returned; a neighbor called police, and Kyle told officers she did not want Kim in the house. According to TMZ, officers treated the matter as civil and said an eviction action would be required. This home dispute was not the hotel incident that led to the reported hold. TMZ’s account

A December 2024 evaluation had a different outcome
TMZ later reported that police visited a Kyle-owned home in December after Kim called about a cat she said had been taken and then returned. The outlet said officers called a mental-health team after Kim spoke about ongoing issues with Kyle. The team reportedly concluded she did not meet the criteria for an involuntary hold because it did not consider her a danger to herself or others; paramedics left without transporting anyone. How the housing dispute developed
In April 2026, TMZ reported, citing court documents it said it obtained, that Kyle filed an eviction suit in January 2025 seeking possession of her Encino condo. The report said a default judgment was entered in March 2025 after Kim did not respond. Kim had moved out by June 2025, before the sheriff could serve the judgment, according to TMZ. At the mid-2025 Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14 reunion, Kyle and Kathy Hilton reportedly said Kim was living in Florida and doing better. These comments offered a family update; they were not an independent assessment of her health.

On September 8, 2026, Kyle told a photographer at LAX that Kim was “doing okay” and “better” than when the eviction suit was filed. Kyle also said Kim “has a big family that loves her very much,” according to TMZ.
