Kate Ritchie returned to Nova’s Sydney breakfast show on Friday, 8 August 2025, after about six months away. She had announced her break on 3 February, saying she was taking time away from the show and its team to focus on her health. On her return, Ritchie said she felt grateful for the time away and had taken the break for herself.
When did Kate Ritchie return to Nova?
Ritchie was back on Nova’s Sydney breakfast program on 8 August 2025, rejoining co-hosts Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and Michael “Wippa” Wipfli, according to 7NEWS, PerthNow and Mediaweek. Her absence had lasted roughly six months; the reports describe it as a period away, not as a precisely measured duration.
Why did she take a break?
On 3 February 2025, Ritchie announced she was stepping away from the show and its team to focus on her health. In the statement reproduced by 7NEWS and Mediaweek, she said: “I struggle with mental health issues at times, which are deeply personal.” She added: “So, I have decided to take a break from the show and the team, who I love, to focus on my health.”
Ritchie’s words establish how she publicly described her own experience and the reason she gave for leaving. They do not establish a diagnosis, treatment, or further details about her private circumstances. TV Tonight also reported on her February statement.
