Her rugby patronages make that connection notable, but there is no confirmed evidence that she wore it to send a message or endorse a product.
What happened at Windsor Farm Shop
Associated Press dates the reported outing video to March 16, 2024. The couple were seen at Windsor Farm Shop, near their Windsor home. Sky News described Catherine in a hoodie and leggings, carrying shopping; the short clip showed the couple talking and smiling as they left with bags. Sky News reported the sighting and an eyewitness account, while AP’s timeline records the date.
ABC News Australia reported that The Sun first covered the trip on March 18 and that The Sun and TMZ obtained the same clip the next day. The sighting drew attention during a period of intense public speculation: it was the first time Catherine had been filmed in public since Christmas and her January abdominal surgery, according to ABC. That coverage also followed controversy over an edited Mother’s Day photograph.
How the hoodie was identified
A March 19 Glamour report attributed the identification to Page Six, describing the garment as a men’s England Rugby hoodie from a past collection. The visible details it noted were a rose logo near the clavicle and orange trim and a zipper. This is secondary fashion reporting, not an official product record; the exact model or SKU has not been established.

British Vogue described the outfit as black leggings, a zip-up hoodie, trainers and sports socks, and placed it within Catherine’s familiar casual, sportswear- and countrywear-adjacent style. That is an interpretation of her wardrobe, not proof of why she chose this particular garment.
Why the rugby connection matters—and what it does not prove
Glamour’s report also notes that Catherine became royal patron of both the Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League in 2022, taking over the roles from Prince Harry. That background makes an England Rugby hoodie a fitting point of interest. It does not establish that the outfit was a deliberate public signal, a formal endorsement, or a statement on behalf of either organization. No official manufacturer or Palace statement confirming the garment’s identity or its intended meaning is cited in the coverage.

How the sighting fits the March 2024 chronology
The farm-shop footage appeared amid discussion of Catherine’s absence from public view and the edited Mother’s Day image. AP’s timeline records her apology over that photograph on March 11, the outing report on March 16, and her announcement on March 22 that she was undergoing cancer treatment. The shopping clip itself cannot establish a diagnosis, prognosis or other medical details; those came from Catherine’s later announcement, not from what could be seen in a brief video.
ABC royal commentator Juliet Rieden offered one view of the outing’s visibility: “She’s at her local shop. I’m sure she went there with the expectation that someone would see her,” ABC reported. That was Rieden’s interpretation, not a statement from Catherine about her plans or her clothing.
