Catherine’s own dated updates offer a separate account: in June 2024 she described ongoing treatment and the unevenness of recovery; in January 2025 she said she was in remission and focused on recovery.
Who said Catherine was “a different person now”?
The phrase appeared in PEOPLE’s December 11, 2024 profile, republished by AOL. An unnamed insider told the outlet, “You can’t go through something like that and come out the other side unchanged,” then added, “She is a different person now.” The profile’s comments about changed priorities and the pace of Catherine’s return were also attributed to sources.
That distinction matters: the quote is an insider’s characterization of Catherine, not a statement she made about herself. It does not independently establish her feelings, priorities, or medical condition.
What Catherine said about treatment and recovery
June 14, 2024: treatment was ongoing
In a public update on June 14, 2024, Catherine said she was still undergoing treatment and making progress, while acknowledging that recovery was not consistent from day to day. “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” she said.
