In April 2018, Kapil Sharma filed a complaint at Mumbai’s Oshiwara police station naming journalist Vicky Lalvani and former show producers Neeti and Preeti Simoes. Sharma’s complaint alleged extortion and harassment, including a reported demand for ₹25 lakh. Those claims were allegations, not findings that extortion occurred.
What did Sharma’s complaint allege?
Contemporaneous reports said the complaint alleged that an associate had been asked to pay ₹25 lakh and that personal information about Sharma could be disclosed. Sharma connected the alleged demand to what he described as negative coverage in digital media and to emotional distress. These details were reported as claims in his complaint, not independently established facts. The Indian Express’s April 7, 2018 report and Hindustan Times’s coverage described the complaint and its allegations.
Sharma also posted a statement on April 7, 2018, which The Indian Express reproduced: “Some people just want to defame you for few bucks but it will take ages to make a stand against the wrong.. I shall do it today n forever..” The tweet expressed Sharma’s position; it is not evidence that the alleged demand took place. The Indian Express
Who was named, and what was reported in response?
The complaint named Spotboye editor Vicky Lalvani and former show producers Neeti and Preeti Simoes. Hindustan Times separately reported that Spotboye filed a counter-complaint alleging criminal intimidation, abuse, and threats against Sharma. The report does not establish the truth of either side’s claims or document how the counter-complaint was resolved. Hindustan Times

What happened after the complaints?
The reviewed reports do not establish a final police or court disposition for either complaint. It is therefore not possible, on the available reporting, to say that the allegations were proven, dismissed, or adjudicated.
In an interview reported on June 19, 2026, Preeti Simoes described the dispute as an old story and said she and Sharma meet cordially, though they are not in regular contact. The Indian Express quoted her: “It’s an old story. It happened during The Kapil Sharma Show; they were with Sony TV that time. They are together now and doing so well together. We are in touch, but not regularly. However, Sunil is family to us. With Kapil, it’s so nice that when we meet, we meet beautifully.” This is Simoes’s retrospective account of their relationship, not a resolution of the complaints. The Indian Express, June 19, 2026
