In a video statement reported by Univision Famosos, Álvarez said: “Desgraciadamente, tenemos que informarles que el evento tal cual estaba programado no se llevará a cabo por causa y motivo de cancelación de nuestras visas de trabajo.” He said he had received formal notice that morning and that he and his team could not travel in time for the concert.

The account that the work visas were canceled comes from Álvarez, as reported by news outlets. The U.S. State Department did not confirm the circumstances or give a reason for the individual visa action.
