His account is less a claim that sport guarantees a smooth career change than a portrait of learning a new field through discipline, relationships, and steady effort.
From Georgia football to the NFL
Lynch’s athletic career began at the University of Georgia, where he played in 51 games for the Bulldogs. The university reported 56 receptions for 907 yards and eight touchdowns during his college career. In 2013, he recorded 30 receptions for 459 yards and five touchdowns and earned first-team All-SEC recognition.
The Miami Dolphins selected Lynch 155th overall in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, according to the University of Georgia’s draft announcement. A later University of Georgia Athletics interview from July 2020 described brief stints with the Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons, followed by work in Boston and service as an Army second lieutenant stationed at Fort Benning. That is a dated snapshot, not a description of his present role.
How Lynch describes his move into business
In Zach Nolan’s March 15, 2023 TechBullion interview, Lynch recounted taking a job at Boston technology startup Catchpoint Systems after football. He said the experience introduced him to a business environment outside his athletic background. An interest in finance later led him to Greater Sum Ventures’ healthcare team after a friend made an introduction.

His story puts relationships and a willingness to learn alongside discipline. The transition was not presented as a direct conversion of football skills into expertise in technology or investing: Lynch said he did not begin with a strong background in either area. Instead, he described learning on the job, drawing on professional connections, and being open to starting in unfamiliar territory.
What a typical day looked like in the 2023 interview
Lynch said he woke at 4:30 a.m. and typically worked out for 30–40 minutes. He also mentioned making French-press coffee. These are details of the routine he described in 2023, not a universal schedule or a prescription for other people.

His account reflects a practical continuity between sports and work: routines can create structure when the demands and habits of a new profession are less familiar. But the interview does not establish that one particular wake-up time or workout length is necessary for a successful transition.
Lessons Lynch carried from football
Focus on what you can control
Lynch recalled Georgia coach Mike Bobo teaching the team to “control the control-ables.” In the interview, the lesson is about directing attention toward preparation and actions within one’s control rather than becoming consumed by outcomes one cannot determine.

Be accountable for the work
Lynch’s reflections emphasize personal responsibility: show up, prepare, and do the work in front of you. That approach does not promise a particular result, but it gives a person a concrete way to respond when the larger outcome remains uncertain.
Keep moving after setbacks
Lynch recalled his grandfather’s advice this way: “In football, like in life, you’re going to get knocked down and no matter how hard you were hit, you’ve got to get back up and keep moving forward.” The line links resilience to action—not denying a setback, but continuing after it.

His advice on time and routine
For younger athletes juggling study, training, and other responsibilities, Lynch recommended managing time deliberately and establishing simple routines. His compact reminder was: “In short, make your bed.” It is advice he gave in the interview, not evidence that a particular morning habit will work for everyone. The broader point is to create a small, repeatable start to the day and take responsibility for the tasks that follow.
What is—and is not—known about his later path
The 2023 interview is a first-person account of Lynch’s experience and perspective at that time. It should not be read as a current biography. A self-published profile describes him as a former NFL tight end and Army infantry officer, a Cornell Johnson MBA graduate, and an investment-banking summer associate at Jefferies; those later details are claims made by that profile and are not independently established here.

The most useful takeaway is therefore the one Lynch offers from his own experience: changing fields can mean accepting a beginner’s position, learning through experience and relationships, and applying familiar habits of preparation in a new setting. His story illustrates one path beyond the field, rather than a formula for every athlete.
