Lizzo’s February 2025 Instagram video was captioned “End of an era” and reportedly showed her spray-painting over an enlarged image of her Special album cover before saying, “Bye bitch.” The post drew speculation, but the available reporting does not establish that it was an announcement about weight loss or a change in her health.
What happens in the video?
Contemporary reports describe Lizzo painting over an enlarged image of the cover of her 2022 album Special. She reportedly says, “Bye bitch,” and captions the video “End of an era.” HotNewHipHop and AllHipHop reported the scene on February 16, 2025; The Express Tribune described it on February 14.
The reported scene and caption are what viewers can take from the post. The original Instagram video was not independently retrieved for this account, so these details are attributed to contemporaneous coverage rather than presented as a direct examination of the post. HotNewHipHop and AllHipHop both linked to the Instagram post.
Does the video confirm a weight-loss or health announcement?
No. The video’s reported caption does not explain what “era” Lizzo means, and the available reporting does not establish that the clip announces weight loss, medical treatment, or a health change. Some entertainment coverage frames the post in relation to her health journey, but that framing is not the same as a confirmed explanation from Lizzo.

The headline’s reference to a “slimmer figure” is an appearance-based interpretation, not evidence of a medical or personal milestone. The clip should not be treated as proof of a change in health.
What did Lizzo say about Special?
In a separate Instagram post, Lizzo reflected on the album, writing, “This album was my strut back into society after a hard 2020 & 2021,” as quoted by The Express Tribune. That reflection gives context for the album’s significance to her, but it is distinct from the “End of an era” video and does not explain what she intended the video to mean.

What does “End of an era” mean?
The phrase invites interpretation, but the available reporting provides no official statement from Lizzo explaining it beyond the caption and her separate reflection on Special. The video may signal a symbolic break with the album period, but that remains an interpretation—not a confirmed announcement of retirement, a specific new project, or a health-related change.
