What Fincher requested in his response
Parvati Shallow filed for divorce in August 2021. People reported that its account was based on Los Angeles County court documents it obtained. In his response, Fincher requested joint legal and physical custody of their daughter and sought dissolution of the marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.
The request described what Fincher was asking the court to approve at that point; it was not, by itself, a custody order.
What happened after the request
Us Weekly later reported that a judge signed a custody agreement on October 19, 2021, granting joint legal and physical custody. The outlet also described arrangements for exchanges and a permitted week-long visit to New Hampshire. The reports establish the request and the later agreement as separate developments, not the terms of any current arrangement.

What the reports say about the restraining-order request
People’s account also described a request for a temporary restraining order and its dismissal, as well as competing accounts of the events behind it. Shallow made allegations; Fincher denied them. Fincher’s lawyer, Joy Dracup Stanley, characterized the proceeding as “a very unfortunate matter.” The denial and characterization are statements from Fincher’s side, not findings by a court.
The reported dismissal is a procedural outcome; it does not, on its own, establish whether each disputed allegation was true. The reports do not support presenting the competing claims as judicial findings.

The available reports describe events from 2021: Shallow’s August divorce filing, Fincher’s response requesting joint custody, and the agreement Us Weekly said was signed on October 19. They do not establish whether the divorce was finalized or what custody arrangement is in place today.
