How Jen and Zac Affleck met and married
Us Weekly reports that Jen and Zac met in 2018 on Mutual, a dating app for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They married on June 28, 2019, in Newport Beach, California, according to Parade. Before the wedding, Jen wrote on Instagram that she could not imagine life without Zac, as quoted in Us Weekly.
Children and family milestones
Us Weekly’s timeline says the couple’s daughter Nora was born in November 2021 and their son Lucas in July 2023. Their third child, Penelope Phyliss, was born July 2, 2025. Jen announced her arrival with the Instagram caption, “Baby Penelope is here 🤍 & she is perfect,” ABC News reported.
In July 2026, Jen disclosed that she was pregnant with a fourth child, according to TV Insider. The reporting cited here does not establish a later birth.

What the reality show revealed—and what it did not
The first season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which premiered in 2024, brought the couple’s conflict to a wide audience. Us Weekly recapped a disagreement over Jen’s plans for a Las Vegas girls’ night. Its account also includes allegations by castmate Demi Engemann concerning texts and Zac’s behavior. Those are Engemann’s claims as reported by the outlet, not findings independently established here.
Reality television offers viewers an edited account of events, not a complete record of a marriage. The on-screen disagreement is part of the public story; it should not be treated as proof of every claim made about the couple or as a full explanation of their relationship.

Jen’s account of their challenges and reconciliation
In February 2025, Jen responded to criticism by describing a relationship shaped by difficult transitions. In an Instagram statement quoted by ABC News, she said they had faced identity crises, career changes, young parenthood, Zac starting medical school and filming a reality show during a stressful period. She added, “but honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
Parade reports that Jen and Zac lived apart between the show’s first and second seasons and later reconciled. In May 2025, both appeared on an episode of The Viall Files to discuss their relationship after season two. These accounts provide context for their public story, but they do not establish every private detail or give a direct current account from Zac.

As of August 2026, TV Insider reported that Jen told People they were still married. She acknowledged strain, saying, “There’s a lot that we’ve been navigating behind closed doors.” She also described the preceding months as difficult while saying she felt she was “seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.” That is a dated update, not confirmation of their status after August 2026.
