John Wick: Chapter 5 is officially in development, with Keanu Reeves returning to star and produce and Chad Stahelski set to direct. The latest reported update, in April 2026, was that Reeves and Stahelski had found an idea they liked, but Lionsgate had no timeline to share and said many steps remained. Is John Wick 5 confirmed?
Yes. Lionsgate announced John Wick: Chapter 5 at CinemaCon in April 2025. The announcement named Reeves as star and producer, Stahelski as director, and Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee as producers developing the film, according to ABC News’ report on the announcement.

In April 2026, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson said Reeves and Stahelski had settled on a core idea they were excited about. He also said there were many steps left and declined to give a timeline. ComicBook.com’s account of Fogelson’s remarks characterized the project as having a promising idea, not as being ready to shoot.

Fogelson said: “Chad and Keanu have an idea that they think can be really exciting. There are a lot of steps, so I wouldn’t want to put a timeline on it. But in terms of finding a core idea, they seem to have landed on something that they are excited about, and now we’ll see.”
What might the story be about?
Stahelski has said the film would tell a new story involving John Wick rather than continue the High Table storyline. In comments reproduced by Variety from Empire, he described the earlier saga as “pretty wrapped up” and said the fifth film would be “really different.”
