Loot Kaand is a six-episode Hindi crime caper built around two debt-strapped siblings, a bank-heist plan and a weapons cache the story connects to the 1995 Purulia arms drop. Its lively performances and twist-heavy pace make it entertaining, but its many plot threads can feel crowded and contrived. Watch it for the sibling chemistry and colorful turns, not for a tightly grounded crime story.
What is Loot Kaand about?
Created by Saurav Dey and directed by Ruchir Arun, Loot Kaand follows Latika and Palash, siblings in Purulia, West Bengal, who plan bank robberies as financial pressures close in. Latika hopes to save the family’s ancestral home; Palash has lost his job after stealing. Their scheme draws them into a wider tangle involving a hidden weapons cache, gangsters, police, and a missing girl.
The series uses the 1995 Purulia arms drop as a premise for that fictional tangle. Scroll’s review describes the incident as the story’s starting point: weapons crates fell from the sky, and some weapons were hidden rather than returned to government custody. The reviews establish how the show invokes the incident; they do not independently verify its historical details. Treat the connections between the arms cache and the present-day characters as part of the drama, not as a factual account of the event.
Prime Video’s official synopsis describes the siblings’ plan as “a unique bank heist to save their ancestral house.”

What works best in the series?
The sibling pairing
Tanya Maniktala plays Latika and Sahil Mehta plays Palash. Scroll finds them well matched: Latika is the older, more sensible sibling, while Palash is the more reckless one. That contrast gives the heist story a human center even when the plot branches into several other pursuits.
The supporting cast and restless energy
Gyanendra Tripathi makes a memorable impression as Pinaki, a puzzle-solving teacher with a secret connection to the story. The ensemble also includes Brij Bhushan Shukla as gangster Burman, Ronjini Chakraborty as his wife Paro, Nitin NS Goel as police officer Saket, and Prashansa Sharma as Saket’s colleague Mithu. The performances help keep the series buoyant as its turns accumulate.

Where does Loot Kaand lose focus?
The chief drawback is narrative overload. Scroll calls the screenplay superbusy and convoluted, and finds some of its connections contrived; characters can seem to cross paths within an implausibly small radius. The Times of India likewise describes the arms-drop subplot as initially far-fetched and convoluted, even as the heist plan gathers momentum. The Hollywood Reporter India’s review description praises the cast and offbeat energy but says the overlapping arcs and narrative structure prevent the series from coming together cohesively.
The Bengal setting also promises more local texture than Scroll finds in the finished show. If place and atmosphere are a major reason you choose a crime drama, that may be a disappointment: Purulia anchors the premise, but the review argues that the setting does not supply much distinctive local flavor.

Who is likely to enjoy it?
Loot Kaand is a better fit for viewers who enjoy energetic, twist-heavy heist dramas and strong ensemble performances than for those who need a crime plot to stay plausible and neatly assembled. Its appeal is the ride—particularly the sibling dynamic and the performers’ ability to animate a crowded story—rather than the logic of every coincidence.

The reviews broadly point to the same trade-off: a lively cast and an entertaining succession of turns versus a plot that strains credibility and coherence. That makes Loot Kaand an easy recommendation for a casual, performance-led heist watch, with a clear caveat for viewers who dislike tangled plotting.
