The City of Bayswater’s free Community Concert took place on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Pat O’Hara Reserve in Morley. The announced program ran from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm and featured Noongar musicians Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse, hip-hop artist ZERO Emcee, singer Lucy Iffla, and the 950 Express Big Band.
Who was on the music lineup?
The City’s pre-event announcement named four acts: Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse, ZERO Emcee, Lucy Iffla, and the 950 Express Big Band. The City’s 2023/24 annual report later confirmed that Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse performed, as did ZERO Emcee accompanied by the 950 Express Big Band.
- Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse: The Noongar musical duo was part of the announced lineup and is named in the City’s retrospective.
- ZERO Emcee: The hip-hop artist was announced for the concert; the City later recorded a performance accompanied by the 950 Express Big Band.
- Lucy Iffla: Named in the original announcement. The annual report’s retrospective does not mention her by name.
- 950 Express Big Band: Announced as a performer and later described by the City as accompanying ZERO Emcee.
The announcement presented the program as spanning jazz, hip-hop, and Indigenous culture. The quoted genre descriptions come from Mayor Filomena Piffaretti’s announcement-era remarks, rather than a detailed set list.
What else was part of the program?
The announcement also promoted Aboriginal and contemporary dancing, didgeridoo players, food trucks, market stalls, and activities for children. In its retrospective, the City confirmed dancing, didgeridoo playing, and children’s activities. The announcement said the City would work with food vendors to reduce single-use plastic; that describes a planned effort, not a reported measurement of its results.
