Harvey Elliott’s favourite tattoo is a portrait of his younger self holding a ball as a Liverpool supporter. What does Harvey Elliott’s tattoo mean to him?
In a February 2022 interview with PAUSE, Elliott said all his tattoos have meaning. He connected them to what his family had been through, particularly when he was younger, and to the person he has become.
“Taking those experiences and how they have brought me up to be the person that I am today, those tattoos are a reminder of the growth and I want to live with them for the rest of my life.”
He named his favourite as an image of himself as a child, holding a ball and supporting Liverpool, based on a photograph. Elliott said he could look back at it when he was older and perhaps use it as motivation for his future family. That makes the tattoo more than a football emblem in his account: it connects his childhood support for the club with his family history and the life he hopes to build.

What does the tattoo show?
Elliott’s own description confirms the central image: a younger version of himself with a ball, as a Liverpool supporter. A May 2021 Read Liverpool report described the child as wearing a Liverpool hat and kit and having Elliott’s squad number. The report itself framed that identification as presumed; Elliott’s interview does not confirm those particular details.
Why did some fans respond positively?
A discussion posted to Reddit’s r/LiverpoolFC on 21 August 2021 includes the comment, “Football tats are normally shite but this is quality.” Another commenter connected a photograph of Elliott to the tattoo. Those reactions offer a glimpse of why the design appealed to some people: it links his Liverpool identity to a personal childhood memory rather than presenting only a conventional club symbol.

That thread is anecdotal, not a poll or representative sample. It supports saying that some commenters liked the tattoo; it does not show that Liverpool fans generally love it.

The available accounts do not verify who tattooed Elliott, the exact date it was made, or whether an authorized image or replica is available. The clearest account of its personal significance remains Elliott’s own explanation in the PAUSE interview.
