The concluding Kaiju No. 8 anime project is confirmed, but no premiere date or format has been announced in the latest dated reporting available here. The project was revealed at Jump Festa 2026 on December 20, 2025, and has been described as the anime’s “final arc” and “Final Chapter.” Those labels do not confirm whether it will be a film or a numbered season.
What was announced at Jump Festa
ORICON reported that the announcement came during the Kaiju No. 8 Jump Festa 2026 Super Stage on December 20, 2025, shortly after the second anime season finished airing in September 2025. A teaser visual and promotional video were unveiled. The footage showed Defense Force members facing evolved kaiju, raised questions about Isao Shinomiya’s fate after his absorption by Kaiju No. 9, and emphasized Kafka’s resolve to keep fighting as Kaiju No. 8.

#1 Best Overall
Coverage has used both “final arc” and “Final Chapter” for the concluding project. Neither term confirms a third season or a movie. Treat claims that it will be a film or a final television season as speculation unless an official format announcement appears.
Is Kaiju No. 8 getting a final season?
The concluding anime project is confirmed, but the available reporting does not identify it as a numbered third season. The same reporting does not establish a film either. Until its format is announced, the accurate description is the concluding project, or the Final Chapter, rather than a confirmed season or movie.

ORICON’s December 20, 2025 report said the manga had surpassed 19 million copies in circulation; that is the figure reported at the time, not a current total. In the same report, creator Naoya Matsumoto said, “Kaiju No. 8 as a work is far from over,” and, “I plan to keep throwing out ideas nonstop.” He was speaking broadly about the franchise and his exchanges with the anime and game production teams; the comments do not promise an anime date or a particular continuation format.
