All seven Jurassic Park movies, ranked
The order follows Parade’s seven-film ranking, with AARP’s alternative six-film list used to show where opinions diverge. AARP’s list predates Rebirth, so it does not rank that film. The disagreement is most revealing in the middle of the series, where taste for action, horror, pacing, or coherent plotting can change the order.

Worst: Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
The franchise’s biggest reunion is also its most overstuffed entry in this ranking. Parade faults its long runtime, tired fan service, and anticlimactic action; AARP likewise puts it last among the six films it reviewed, citing a crowded story and diminished suspense. The return of legacy characters may still appeal to completists, but nostalgia does not give the plot enough momentum.

Jurassic Park III (2001)
Thin characters and a slight screenplay keep this below the stronger entries. But its 92-minute runtime makes it a brisk dinosaur chase, and AARP praises its pace and Spinosaurus even while calling it the weakest original-trilogy film. Viewers who prize economy and creature action over character depth may enjoy it more than this placement suggests.

Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)
A new cast and a fresh mission—collecting biological samples from large surviving dinosaurs—give the series a reset. Parade places it fifth, noting familiar problems with plot and dialogue alongside the new setup. That position is an editorial judgment, not a settled consensus: the film was released after the 2022 Metacritic comparison of the first six movies.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
Steven Spielberg delivers memorable action, but the story and character work are less cohesive than in the original. Parade ranks it fourth; AARP places it third, also valuing its set pieces while finding the narrative weaker. Its standing depends on whether spectacle or story consistency matters more to you.

Jurassic World (2015)
The theme park finally opens, bringing scale, crowd-pleasing dinosaur action, and a successful revival of the franchise. Parade ranks it third, while AARP puts it second. Metacritic’s June 2022 comparison gives it a 59 Metascore, tied with The Lost World; that critic aggregate is one measure of reception, not a verdict on which film is most fun.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
J.A. Bayona gives the series a gothic, horror-inflected visual style that makes this one stand out. Parade ranks it second, praising that approach while noting pacing and character limitations. AARP places it fifth of six, objecting to shifts in tone and story logic. If atmosphere and set pieces matter more to you than a tightly joined plot, it may be a personal favorite.

Best: Jurassic Park (1993)
The original remains the strongest all-around film: it balances suspense and awe, makes the dinosaur spectacle serve a clear cautionary premise, and combines practical and digital effects to unforgettable effect. Parade and AARP both rank it first; Metacritic’s 2022 comparison also gives it the highest score among the six films then released, a 68 Metascore. Roger Ebert’s description of its dinosaurs as “a triumph of special effects artistry” captures one reason its sense of wonder still holds.
Why the order is subjective
This ranking weighs four things: suspense and the execution of set pieces; the strength of story and characters; freshness versus nostalgia; and whether the dinosaur spectacle supports the film rather than distracting from it. The original wins across those measures, but the middle positions depend on what a viewer values. Parade and AARP, for example, differ sharply on Fallen Kingdom and also place Jurassic World and Jurassic Park III differently.

Review scores and box-office totals answer different questions from a personal ranking. The Numbers lists worldwide grosses of $1,671,063,641 for Jurassic World, $1,308,323,302 for Fallen Kingdom, and $872,446,516 for Rebirth (database totals accessed in 2026). Those figures indicate theatrical revenue as recorded by that database, not quality. Likewise, Metacritic’s 2022 comparison predates Rebirth and cannot establish its standing against all seven films.

For a first viewing, watch them in release order: the later films build on the franchise’s settings and history, and this lets the changes in tone and scale make sense as they arrive.
