In 2026, Iris said their connection was over and explained her reasons; Pepe denied cheating, the allegation at the center of their differing accounts.
What sparked the breakup rumors in August 2025?
On August 24, 2025, Us Weekly reported that Iris and Pepe had unfollowed one another on Instagram. The outlet said it had reached out to both for comment. That social-media change prompted speculation that the couple had split, but it did not establish that they had broken up or explain why.
The report came after Pepe had recently described the pair as “both doing great.” Cosmopolitan quoted him on August 8 saying, “We’re great, we’re great, we’re doing great.” Those earlier remarks give a snapshot of what he said then; they do not settle what happened afterward.
Did Iris confirm the split with her Instagram Story?
No. On August 25, Cosmopolitan noted that neither Iris nor Pepe had directly commented on the speculation as of its publication. The outlet interpreted a sunset Story from Iris, paired with Fleetwood Mac’s “Silver Springs,” as a possible response. That was an interpretation of the post, not an explicit breakup announcement from Iris.

What did Iris and Pepe say later?
By April 15, 2026, the account had changed from rumor to retrospective confirmation. In coverage of the Love Island: Beyond the Villa season 2 premiere, TV Insider/Swooon reported Iris’s explanation and Pepe’s denial. Iris also shared a statement with E! News, reproduced by the outlet: “The connection that I formed has ended, and while it isn’t how I would have imagined, I will always value the unique experience that we shared.”
Iris’s explanation
On the spinoff, Iris said she had received messages from women alleging “horrible things” about Pepe. She referred to a cheating scandal after the reunion and said, “I’m not OK with Pepe lying, and that was really just the end for me.” These are Iris’s allegations and account of why the relationship ended; they should not be treated as independently established facts.

Pepe’s response
Pepe denied the allegation, saying, “I did not cheat on Iris.” He added that he had not spoken to other women while he was talking to Iris, and said he believed TJ Palma was still hung up on her. The cheating claim is therefore disputed: Iris described allegations and her reasons for ending the relationship, while Pepe denied cheating.
