What makes M3GAN’s costume recognizable?
Costume designer Jeriana San Juan describes the dress and signature bow as central to M3GAN’s visual identity. In NBCUniversal’s costume-design feature, she says: “When people think of M3GAN, they think of her look—that dress and her signature bow. Those elements are a part of her visual signature, which I inherited into the sequel.” The feature also characterizes the look as iconic, but gives no sales total or ranking to quantify its popularity.
For a recognizable first-film-inspired outfit, prioritize a camel or tan dress and a large striped bow. Striped sleeves, decorative buttons, and a pleated front appear in one licensed retailer’s description, but they are not established as specifications for every M3GAN costume.
Should you buy a licensed costume or assemble the outfit?
Buy a ready-made costume
A licensed costume is the more direct option, but compare what each specific package includes. The Blumhouse Shop adult costume listing describes a dress with an attached scarf and matching tights. A separate listing at HalloweenCostumes.com describes a tan polyester dress with striped long sleeves, decorative buttons, a pleated front, and a large striped bow sewn at the neckline; it explicitly says tights are sold separately. These are differences between those listings, not a universal rule about licensed costumes.

Assemble a look from separate pieces
If you would rather build the outfit, use the documented design elements as a guide: a tan or camel dress, striped sleeves or a striped underlayer, and a large striped bow. This is a styling suggestion based on the described look, not a tested costume recipe. Check how the pieces sit together and whether the bow can be secured at the neckline.

What should you check before ordering?
- Included pieces: Look for an explicit list of what comes in the package. A listing may include tights, while another may sell them separately.
- Measurements and fit: HalloweenCostumes.com says its polyester dress has no built-in stretch and advises comparing chest, waist, and hip measurements with its size chart. Apply that guidance to that listing only; other sellers may use different materials and sizing.
- Design details: Check whether the dress has the bow, striped sleeves, buttons, or other features you want, rather than assuming every product matches the same specification.
- Current availability: Confirm the seller’s current sizes, components, and product details. Listings can change.
Are a wig or mask necessary?
No. The dress and bow are the defining elements identified by San Juan. The NBCUniversal Shop M3GAN collection lists an adult wig and adult masks as optional accessory categories. Check the live product descriptions if you want an accessory; a mask can affect comfort and visibility.
