Delilah Belle Hamlin said she entered treatment twice in 2018: first in February, after moving to New York for NYU and experiencing severe depression, and again in June. In a 2025 retrospective, she described the care as focused on mental health and intensive therapy, not addiction.

When did Delilah Belle Hamlin go to treatment?

Hamlin shared the account publicly in July 2019, describing events from the previous year. In her Instagram Story, she wrote, “This time last year I was in rehabilitation.” Entertainment Tonight reported her disclosure on July 19, 2019; Bravo covered it on July 22, 2019.

  • February 2018: Hamlin said she returned to Los Angeles after moving to New York for NYU, called her mother, and was admitted to a treatment facility about two weeks later.
  • June 2018: She said she went back to treatment. Entertainment Tonight reported that this second stay lasted two months.
  • July 2019: She publicly described the two stays and the circumstances around them.
  • July 2025: In a later discussion on her parents’ podcast, she reflected on the experience and its focus on mental health and intensive therapy.

Why did she seek help?

Hamlin said she was experiencing severe depression after moving to New York and that she was in an unhealthy relationship she felt unable to leave. “I knew the way I was living was unhealthy and detrimental to my mental health so I called my mom and told her I needed help,” she wrote in 2019. That is her account of what led her to seek care; the reporting does not independently establish the details of the relationship or a clinical cause.

How did she later describe the treatment?

In 2025, Hamlin described the earlier treatment as more about mental health and intensive therapy than addiction. Us Weekly reported her saying, “It was more so I just felt so out of control of my own emotions.” Us Weekly’s July 4, 2025 report offers that later framing alongside her reflections on sobriety and recovery.

The change in wording is a difference in emphasis across accounts, not evidence of a contradiction: early coverage used “rehab,” while Hamlin later explained that her treatment centered on mental health and intensive therapy. Her 2019 post also described learning about independence, self-respect, and self-love; those were personal reflections, not clinical advice.

What is known—and what is not

The available accounts support the dates and explanations Hamlin shared publicly. They do not provide medical records or establish a diagnosis, the name of a facility or provider, or further private treatment details. The reason for the stays should therefore be described in her own terms rather than expanded into an assumption about addiction or a specific condition.
