Lil Durk’s team announced Deep Thoughts on March 17, 2025, while he was incarcerated, and set March 28 as its release date. The album arrived as scheduled. The announcement video showed producers in a studio speaking with Durk by phone; it was a promotional reveal, not a documentary account of the album’s making.
When did Lil Durk announce Deep Thoughts?
Durk’s team shared the cover art and a promotional clip on March 17, 2025. The clip showed producers in a studio speaking with Durk by phone. In a line from the call reproduced in contemporary reporting, Durk said, “I like the energy.” A social-post caption reproduced by iHeart read, “The Streets Still Need Me 🦅.” These quotations are attributed to the promotional material and reporting, rather than presented as independently verified transcripts. Rolling Stone’s announcement report provides the release context.

When did the album come out?
Deep Thoughts was released on March 28, 2025, eleven days after the announcement. Apple Music’s album listing describes it as a 2025 Lil Durk album with a 52-minute runtime and lists 20 songs. However, iHeart’s release-day report calls it a 17-track album. Because those sources conflict, the track count should not be treated as settled without checking a current authoritative listing. Apple Music’s album page and iHeart’s release-day report show the discrepancy.
Who appears on Deep Thoughts?
iHeart’s release-day coverage names Lil Baby, Future, Jhené Aiko and Hunxho among the collaborators. The report also referenced tracks including “Connect the Dots,” “Notebook” and “Untouchable.”

What was the album’s chart result?
The album reached number 20 on the UK Official Albums Chart. Official Charts records April 10, 2025, as its first chart date; that is a historical peak, not a current ranking.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why was the release described as coming from prison?
The announcement came while Durk was incarcerated, and the promotional video presented him speaking with producers by phone. Apple Music’s editorial album text says the project had initially been planned for October 2024 and was delayed after his arrest that month. That release context does not establish guilt or provide an update on his legal status.
