Jackson Browne’s family announced on November 26, 2025, that his son Ethan Browne had died at age 52. The family said Ethan was found unresponsive at home the previous morning and asked for privacy. The Los Angeles Times later reported the medical examiner’s findings on the cause of death; those details were not included in the family’s initial statement.

A statement published on Jackson Browne’s official website on November 26, 2025, said Ethan Browne, the son of Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, was found unresponsive at his home on the morning of November 25 and had died. What was later reported about the cause of death
On January 14, 2026, the Los Angeles Times reported that the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner attributed Ethan Browne’s death to the effects of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and lidocaine.
