Their decisions did not match: Alyssa wanted to stay, while Duncan ended the relationship.

Nine’s Episode 33 recap describes the ceremony and its context. The network’s Alyssa and Duncan relationship timeline also recounts friction during the experiment, including conflict over time spent together at Couples’ Retreat. That is reported context, not an objective diagnosis of the relationship.
What did Melinda and Layton decide?
Melinda and Layton both chose to continue their relationship outside the experiment. Their decision came after a tense lead-up: Nine’s recap describes them spending their final night in separate apartments after a difficult Final Dinner Party. The network’s relationship timeline identifies frequent disagreements and difficulty with vulnerability as hurdles.

In her vows, Melinda acknowledged the strain, saying, “At times our relationship has been stressful, overwhelming and difficult and for my part in that I want to apologise.” Their mutual choice at the ceremony did not mean they stayed together permanently.
Were Melinda and Layton still together afterward?
No. Nine’s later MAFS 2023 couples update reported that Melinda and Layton confirmed their split in October 2023. This is a later status report, distinct from the choice they made at Final Vows.

So, which couple stayed together at Final Vows?
Melinda and Layton were the couple who mutually chose to stay together at the ceremony. Alyssa wanted to continue with Duncan, but he chose to leave. The distinction matters: a decision to continue at Final Vows is not the same as a guarantee that a couple will remain together afterward.
