She was more direct in an interview with The Charlotte Observer/CharlotteFive, recounting that she told Kenneth, “I am not physically attracted to you and that crave that I’m feeling, or not feeling, is very taboo for me.” She said the loss of that desire troubled her and informed her decision to end the engagement.
Kenneth’s account was different. In an Entertainment Tonight interview, he said, “I was so committed. I saw my forever with Brittany. I really did.” He did not expect the split and said he had been willing to go to the altar.

What changed after the pods?
Kenneth and Brittany formed a strong connection in the pods, became engaged, and then traveled to the Dominican Republic before returning to everyday life in Charlotte. Brittany said the chemistry and passion she had felt during the pod experience diminished once they were together outside that setting. Her explanation centers on attraction and how the relationship felt in person, rather than on a single argument or one isolated incident.
Their breakup conversation was shown on the series, but Brittany later said it was real—not staged—and that they had an approximately hour-and-a-half conversation afterward that did not appear in the episode. She discussed the omitted conversation with CharlotteFive.

Did Kenneth’s conversation with AD cause the breakup?
Neither participant identified Kenneth’s conversation with AD about raising biracial children as the reason the engagement ended. Kenneth said the discussion affirmed him, and Brittany said being in an interracial relationship did not create pressure for her. The stated reason in Brittany’s account was the dwindling chemistry, passion, and physical attraction—not that conversation.
Are Kenneth and Brittany still together?
No. They ended their engagement but chose to remain friends. Entertainment Tonight reported that they stayed in touch after taking some weeks apart; Netflix Tudum later described them as having grown closer after the breakup. The later profile reported Brittany was single and not dating at the time it was published, a status that may change.
