Asked by Gizmodo’s io9 in May 2023 about the series’ hypothetical future, Leterrier said, “I won’t tell you. Because I still have hope that it can come back.”

He imagined that a return might come long after his own involvement: “It might not be me. It might be my grandson or, you know, Jim Henson’s great-grandson, but somebody will direct the rest of this show because we need to tell that story.” He also said Thra was a place the team wanted to revisit.
Those remarks describe Leterrier’s hopes, not a project in development. They do not establish that Netflix or The Jim Henson Company has approved another season, a film, or any other continuation.

Why there is no confirmed second season
In 2020, The Jim Henson Company confirmed there would not be an additional season of Age of Resistance. Executive producer Lisa Henson said the company knew fans wanted to learn how the saga’s chapter concluded and would “look for ways to tell that story in the future,” as reported by SYFY Wire.
The company’s statement left open the possibility of telling the story in some form, but it named no project or schedule. It is not confirmation of a sequel or revival.
What Age of Resistance is—and what its ending leaves behind
Netflix announced the series in 2017 as a 10-episode prequel to the 1982 film, set many years before its events. Its fantasy world, Thra, was brought to life with creatures created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop; the announcement also named Brian Froud, the original film’s conceptual designer. The cancellation means the planned continuation as an additional season did not happen. The company acknowledged that fans wanted to learn how this chapter concluded, but its statement did not explain how or when that story might be told another way.
