The episode sits at the point where connection through a wall has to become a decision about a person neither partner has yet seen.
Hannah chooses Nick, and Leo’s rejection has an aftermath
Hannah’s choice of Nick resolves one of the season’s most charged competing connections. Leo had also pursued Hannah, and her decision leaves him to process a rejection that does not stay neatly between the two of them. In the broader first-six-episode account, The Washington Post’s October 4, 2024 report describes Leo reacting angrily, then apologizing and asking Hannah to tell Brittany that their breakup was mutual. Hannah instead warns Brittany.

That sequence gives the choice its interpersonal weight: Hannah does not simply pick one connection over another; she also has to decide what to communicate to the person left out of the decision. Leo’s request puts pressure on her to manage his image, while her warning gives Brittany information she would otherwise lack. The tension is less about whether a pod connection can survive competition than about how people handle rejection once the choice is made.
Netflix’s Season 7 cast guide describes Hannah and Nick’s pod relationship as including a split and reconciliation. That context helps explain why her final choice is not simply a first impression; it follows uncertainty within the connection itself.

Marissa makes a more direct choice between Ramses and Bohdan
Marissa chooses Ramses over Bohdan, resolving her pod triangle more directly. The Washington Post’s account of the first six episodes says Bohdan takes the rejection calmly. Unlike the Hannah-Leo-Brittany situation, the decision is presented as a clear closure between the people involved rather than a rejection that generates a separate request about what to tell someone else.
Netflix’s cast guide frames Marissa and Ramses as connecting across differences in their backgrounds and values. That season-level description helps establish what attracts them, but the choice itself does not establish how the relationship will fare beyond the pods. At this point, it settles whom Marissa wants to continue with—not whether they will ultimately be compatible.

Why the pod choices change the stakes
The pods allow contestants to build intimacy through conversation without seeing each other. Once a choice becomes an engagement and the wall gives way to a face-to-face meeting, each person has to absorb a new kind of information. The first-six-episode report describes proposals and reveals across that broader stretch, including Brittany accepting Leo’s proposal and the pair meeting in person. It also reports that production did not take them forward to Mexico. Those developments belong to the wider early-season arc; they should not be treated as outcomes that Hannah’s or Marissa’s decisions predict.
The episode’s different decisions are revealing for how they are handled. Hannah chooses amid competing commitments and has to navigate the communication that follows. Marissa resolves a triangle with a direct selection, and Bohdan accepts the answer calmly. Neither approach proves what happens later; each shows how a pod decision can expose the contestants’ ways of handling uncertainty, rejection and responsibility to other people.

What viewers reacted to
In the Episode 4 Reddit discussion, individual commenters described the Leo-Hannah conversation as uncomfortable, talked about the calm Marissa-Bohdan-Ramses resolution, and reacted to Monica and Stephen’s reveal. Those comments are individual responses, not evidence of a broader audience consensus. Monica and Stephen’s emotional openness is also part of Netflix’s season-level cast framing, rather than a scene-by-scene account of this episode.
