Australian comedian and television presenter Julia Morris said in a September 2024 Instagram post that a “pretty big” skin cancer had been removed. She used the news to urge people to take sun protection seriously and pay attention to early detection. The reports do not identify the lesion’s subtype or provide its pathology.
What Julia Morris said after the removal
In remarks reproduced by PerthNow, Morris wrote: “How is your 50+ working out for you? I wish I had used it more in my life. Another pretty big skin cancer removed this week.” She added: “Please slip slop slap & as always, early detection is the key.”
7NEWS also reported her warning that “The Aussie sun is no joke.” Her message connected her own experience with a call for sun safety; it was not a new medical guideline or a product endorsement.
What is known about her skin cancer
The September 2024 reports say Morris had a skin cancer removed and describe her sharing a hospital image. They do not identify the type of cancer, give pathology results, or explain the details of her treatment. It would be inaccurate to infer a subtype or clinical outcome from the phrase “pretty big.”

What “slip, slop, slap” means here
Morris used the familiar Australian sun-safety phrase as part of her call to protect against sun exposure. In the same post, she referred specifically to SPF 50+ sunscreen and reflected that she wished she had used it more. The reports do not say which sunscreen, if any, she used or recommend a particular brand.
