No—ABC’s official listings show Ava Coleman in season five of Abbott Elementary. They do not, however, confirm how long Janelle James will remain with the series or rule out a later departure. The available evidence answers whether Ava has been written out of season five, not what may happen in a future season.

ABC’s official episode guide lists season-five episodes through “Miami” and includes two entries centered on Ava-related story material:

- “No Homework” features Ava implementing a no-homework policy.
- “Ava & Fest” focuses on Ava’s event.
Those episode descriptions establish that Ava remains part of the season-five story. They are plot summaries, not statements about Janelle James’s contract or the character’s longer-term future.
What is—and is not—confirmed about Janelle James
ABC’s cast listing identifies Janelle James as Ava Coleman. ABC’s current show page promotes season six, with a premiere date of October 7, 2026, and lists James as Ava.

The pages do not state the scope or terms of James’s season-six participation, and they do not announce that Ava will leave. So the supported answer is that Ava has not been written out of season five; a season-six listing is not proof of a guaranteed ongoing role or a promise that she will never depart.
