No. Vince Gilligan has said Pluribus and Breaking Bad are separate stories with no intentional connection. Albuquerque and actor Rhea Seehorn link the shows behind the scenes, but they do not establish shared continuity.
What Vince Gilligan has said about the connection
In a November 2025 interview with EL PAÍS, Gilligan said Pluribus and Breaking Bad are different stories that have nothing to do with one another. He explained that he set the new series in Albuquerque because he loves Seehorn and his local crew and wanted to work with them again—not to connect the shows. He said he has repeatedly had to clarify that there are no intentional Breaking Bad links. Read Gilligan’s interview with EL PAÍS.
Why viewers see a possible connection
Pluribus is set in Albuquerque, the setting of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. It also stars Rhea Seehorn, who played Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul. Those are genuine overlaps in location and cast, but Gilligan has described them as reasons for returning to a familiar place and working with people he values—not evidence of a shared fictional universe.
Apple’s July 2025 announcement described Pluribus as a science-fiction drama from Gilligan, starring Seehorn, and identified it as an Apple TV series produced by Sony Pictures Television. It listed a nine-episode first season and a November 7, 2025 premiere. Those production details do not indicate continuity with his earlier shows. Apple’s announcement of Pluribus.

Is Carol Sturka actually Kim Wexler?
No. In a September 2025 interview with TV Insider, Gilligan directly rejected the theory that Carol Sturka is Kim Wexler: “She’s not.” He allowed that the series might contain Easter eggs, but said he could not imagine Carol running into Kim and called the idea weird. An Easter egg, if present, would be a reference—not confirmation that the characters inhabit the same story world. Read Gilligan’s TV Insider interview.

What the answer means for viewers
- Continuity: Gilligan’s stated position is that Pluribus is separate from Breaking Bad and has no intentional connection to it.
- Shared elements: Albuquerque and Seehorn are the notable overlaps behind the speculation.
- Possible Easter eggs: Gilligan left room for small references, but that possibility does not make the shows part of one canon.
