His 2024 Nashville arrest ended in a conditional plea to two misdemeanor reckless-endangerment counts, while the 2021 racial-slur video prompted significant industry sanctions. Big Loud is currently promoting his album and 2026 tour, showing continued industry activity—not universal forgiveness. “Cancelled” is a subjective label, not a legal status or a measurable yes-or-no condition.
Is Morgan Wallen cancelled?
That depends on what “cancelled” means. If it means facing serious professional consequences, Wallen did after a 2021 video showed him using a racial slur: major radio and streaming exposure was withdrawn, CMT removed appearances, he became ineligible for the 2021 ACM Awards, and his label suspended his recording contract. If it means being permanently excluded from the music business, the available evidence does not support that description.

Big Loud’s current artist page promotes Wallen’s album I’m The Problem and the 2026 Still the Problem Tour. That is evidence of active label marketing, not proof that every listener, broadcaster, institution, or business has moved on.
Is Morgan Wallen about to be cancelled?
The public record described here does not establish that Wallen is about to be cancelled. The 2024 arrest brought legal proceedings and local criticism, but his conditional plea did not amount to a felony conviction, and current label promotion and tour listings show continued industry activity. There is no cited population survey or other measure that can settle whether the public considers him “cancelled.” Nor can the present record predict whether a future event would prompt another backlash.

What happened with Morgan Wallen’s arrest?
The April 2024 chair incident
On April 7, 2024, a chair fell from the rooftop of Chief’s on Broadway, a bar in downtown Nashville, and landed near two police officers. Wallen was arrested. He initially faced three felony reckless-endangerment counts and one misdemeanor disorderly-conduct charge. The arrest affidavit described video of him lunging and throwing an object over the roof; no injuries were reported. WSMV’s April 2024 account reported his statement after the arrest: “I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility.” He also said, “Regarding my tour, there will be no change.”
What the body-camera footage shows
Police body-camera footage, obtained by the Associated Press and released by Metro Nashville Police, shows Wallen denying that he threw the chair when questioned. The AP reported that the footage captured denials before and after his arrest. It also recorded him saying “I don’t know” when asked what happened; that response is not, by itself, an admission or an explanation of his intent. The Associated Press reported on the footage on October 1, 2025.
Did Morgan Wallen plead guilty?
On December 12, 2024, Wallen entered a conditional plea to two misdemeanor reckless-endangerment counts. His attorney said it was made under Tennessee’s Diversion Statute and did not result in a conviction at that point. This was not a plea to the three initial felony counts, and it should not be described as a felony conviction. ABC News reported the plea and terms on December 12, 2024.
Rank #2
The reported sentence terms were seven days at a DUI Education Center, two years’ probation, a $350 fine, and court fees. Wallen’s attorney said successful completion of probation would make the charges eligible for dismissal and expungement. The sources cited here do not establish whether he later completed probation or whether dismissal or expungement occurred.

What happened after the racial-slur video?
In February 2021, a video recorded outside Wallen’s Nashville home showed him using a racial slur. The response was concrete and came from several parts of the industry:
- Major radio rotations and selected streaming playlists removed his music.
- CMT removed his appearances.
- He was ruled ineligible for the 2021 ACM Awards.
- Big Loud suspended his recording contract.
These were significant consequences, but they did not permanently end his career. The Los Angeles Times’ December 12, 2024 account described his commercial and career recovery.

How did the 2024 case affect him locally?
The chair case also became part of a Nashville Metro Council discussion over a proposed sign for Wallen’s bar. Council member at large Delishia Porterfield opposed the sign, saying: “I don’t want to see a billboard up with the name of a person who’s throwing chairs off of balconies and who is saying racial slurs.” That was Porterfield’s criticism in the council debate, not a measure of how the entire city feels. The 2020 Nashville incident in which Wallen was detained and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct was separate from the 2024 chair case; the two were not one prosecution.
